HONEY LAVENDER SIMPLE SYRUP

December 19, 2022 By Anna Groves No Comments

Everybody knows I love tulips, but lavender is special to me, too!

I love visiting lavender fields on San Juan Island, and the lavender that’s included in this linen spray recipe is perfection. I travel with lavender essential oil to dab behind my ears for a restful sleep at a hotel, and love a good lavender hand sanitizer.

But I never thought of lavender in my food until I had my first taste of Honey Lavender ice cream from Molly Moon’s in Seattle’s Capitol Hill back in 2010. After that, I was hooked!

Since moving away from Seattle, I’ve started making my own Honey Lavender Syrup to use in multiple ways!

Why you should make your own Honey Lavender simple syrup

Honey Lavender Simple Syrup is a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of recipes, from lattes and teas to ice cream and granola. My recent fave is in a matcha latte!

Not only does the syrup add a lovely floral flavor to your dishes, but it’s also easy to make at home with just a few ingredients.

SUPPLIES (optional)

  • Glass bottle
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Small funnel
  • Small saucepan

INGREDIENTS

To start, gather your ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup filtered water
  • 1 1/4 cup raw unfiltered honey
  • 2-3 TBSP organic food grade lavender flowers.
Love the Pique Sun Goddess Matcha. 5% off with code GROVES

DIRECTIONS

Heat water in a small saucepan on medium high heat until it simmers.

Once it’s hot, add the lavender flowers and reduce the heat.

Stir the mixture and let it simmer on low for 3-4 minutes.

Once the lavender has had a chance to infuse its flavor into the water, remove the saucepan from the heat.

***It’s important to let the lavender water mixture cool to just warm before adding the honey, as adding the honey while the mixture is still hot can destroy the beneficial enzymes and nutrients in the raw honey.***

Once the mixture has cooled slightly, add the raw unfiltered honey and stir until it’s completely dissolved.

Then, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender flowers.

Finally, funnel the syrup into a bottle and store it in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.

ENJOY!

With this easy recipe, you can enjoy the delicious flavor of honey lavender simple syrup in all your favorite recipes.

Try it in an almond milk honey lavender latte, matcha latte, drizzle it over some fruit and grain free granola, or add a little to your bedtime tea for a soothing and aromatic treat. Or, simply pour a little over some dairy free vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert. The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for stopping by and let me know other ways you plan to use this honey lavender simple syrup!

This is for the ladies who keep buying straight je This is for the ladies who keep buying straight jeans but never want to wear them because you can’t figure out why they just never look “right.” So, you go back to your skinnies. (Which is fine, if you want to keep doing that- this is for the ones who want to make a change!)

CUT THEM or hem them, and try again :)

The length is usually perfect if it’s at the bottom of your ankle bone or just above. Try it! Give yourself room for error, and cut!

Now you can wear them with a lot more shoes (not just your heeled open toes) and even boots and flats!

PS- I like to keep some of my straights long, just to wear with higher heels for a “stovepipe” look!  And I cut some for this kind of versatility:). Perfect if you’re trying to transition out of skinnies.

**This can apply to wide legs, boot cuts and flares too! I keep some long, and shorten some so I have a variety of looks**

Lmk if you try it!

It’s official. It’s an epidemic. My DM’s we It’s official. It’s an epidemic. My DM’s were flooded with more messages than I have ever received.

I transparently shared that I’ve been lonely. And that even though I have God, my family, and a wonderful online community, there’s nothing like being with friends who know you well. Who you don’t have to do anything with, except just… be.

In therapy about a month ago, my counselor said: “you need to see your friends..” We’ve been in a new state for 3.5 years and I still have not found community. She said, “whatever it takes. They meet you halfway, you go to them, or they come to you. It’s important.”

She is right. There’s nothing like being with people who love and know you … for you.

When I shared, you said that you are lonely, too. I tell you all this because I am holding myself accountable, and hope to encourage you. Talk to your friends and see what you can make happen as often as you can. And let’s put effort into new friendships, too.

In the meantime, my first meeting is in the books and I’ve scheduled dates for the rest of the year to see my closest friends.

So grateful for my friend Ginger. Her Airbnb near Fort Worth is so beautiful, yes, but it’s the love and care you feel there that matters the most.
