Hi. My name is Anna. And I’m a dark-paint-aholic. I am! While I love light, bright and airy rooms, I am a sucker for a dark wall. I tried to keep it all white in this new house, but once again, I broke down and painted a door, a nook, and one of my bedroom walls pure black! In our last house, I had a wall in the office, living room, coffee bar nook, and the entire media room painted a deep gray, and I covered the whole powder room and one of my bedroom walls in an inky black/blue color.
Here on the blog today, I am sharing the dark paint colors that I have used and loved, plus some others that are super promising that I found while perusing Pinterest.
Most recently, you may have seen my bedroom makeover. I absolutely love this color because it is a true, rich, dark matte black. It is so pure and still, I walk into my bedroom and fall in love with it every time. The paint color is Carbon by Behr. I used the formula that is the most matte, and it also happens to be scuff resistant. So if you love a matte wall, but have high traffic, I highly recommend this formula.
I used the same color and formula in my nook with my slat wall. This nook was so barren and useless. It had no outlet, no shelf, nothing. So I covered the wall in slats and painted it the same black that I used in my bedroom. Then I finished it off with some floating shelves. It is so good! See how I did it in my instagram highlights under “slat wall”
In our last house, I painted my bedroom wall and the bathroom this inky blackish blue color and I absolutely loved it! The color is called Blue Note by Benjamin Moore.
Another dark paint that I have loved is Cracked Pepper by Behr. Such a beautiful, not-too-dark gray, and it looks better the more matte you go.
Here are a few other dark colors that I think would be fantastic on a feature wall!

I love all of these! I’m trying to work up the courage to go with a dark blue for the bedroom in our renovation, so this helps. I would love to know if you have any recommendations for the white/light paint that’s on the other walls in the space. We need a post on your fave white paints next 🙂
