But it’s wild. I grew up one of the only Black p But it’s wild. I grew up one of the only Black people in my town, so one day when I was 16 and saw him as I was walking into the grocery store, I was shook.

He must have been shook too, because he said no words. We just stared at each other. After what seemed like forever, we kept walking. Me going in, he going out. He was 15 and visiting his mom. He didn’t live in my town.

Weeks later he saw me again when I was cheerleading at a football game. He asked around about who I was. After a phone call, I agreed to meet him at my house. I didn’t know it until I opened the door. The guy I stared at in the grocery store. Breathe.

We talked for a few weeks after that, but then lost touch.

When I was 21, I had moved back to Seattle and was working at Banana Republic on 5th and Pike. One day, I walked into the break room and saw someone sitting at the table. His back was turned toward me but… I knew it was him. Rob Groves.

He turned around and looked at me. My heart stopped. “What are you doing here?”

“I work here.”

“Me too.”

And the rest is history. Married 23 years. Four young men. Best friends. Love of my life. So grateful for the one I saw in the grocery store.

Wear what makes you feel confident, strong and beautiful and don’t you dare listen to anyone who tells you different!

This is an outfit photo dump from our weekend. Plans changed a little because of the mid to upper 90’s weather but I still braved it with some pants because I just couldn’t give up 😂

(BTW if you like shopping local, sustainable, unique designers and a woman owned biz, I got both the cream and brown wide legs from a shop in OTR called Continuum bazaar and they are still available on her website - they are called Pia and Raf) the rest are all on my LTK. ❤️
Makeup Lately… SUMMER edition. It’s been so h Makeup Lately… SUMMER edition.
