I spent a weekend at my friend Ginger’s house (owner of Urbanology Designs and HGTV designer of the year in 2021) and slept in the most comfortable bed!
So I asked her for help to make my bed more comfortable and now I’ll share it with you!
Start with these 3 foundational elements:
Next is the Bedding:
The bedding I choose is the Linen Bedding Set in their Olive color and the Solid Sand Duvet Cover in from Citizenry.
For the pillows, I bought four; two for each person and matched the size to the size of my bed! – thanks for the tip, Ginger
Now, we’ll put it all together.
- Start with the fitted sheet
- Next, the flat sheet (take your flat sheet all the way up to the top)
- For the duvet, drape it ⅓ back over to create some asymmetry and added fluffiness!
Ginger shares on her Instagram how she makes a bed that hugs you but is also stylish and beautiful (saved here in her highlights) adding that she layers her bedding with light blankets to create more dimension.
Accents and styling tips for your bed:
For decorative pillows, get an insert that is bigger than your cover. I used two of these pillows and one of these lumbar pillows on the bed. Tip: thin sheet-style blankets will add even more texture and a throw blanket to really finish the whole look.

Questions about my bedroom:
The headboard was a DIY project, you can read all about it here!
The board and batten wall behind my bed was also a DIY project, linked here!
I wrote about dark wall colors here and this is the exact black that I picked for this room!
My rug is sold out 9×11 but they have other sizes available!
My Dresser and nightstand are from West Elm and my pillows can be found here!
I can’t wait to see your bedroom transformation!

Thank you for sharing This! I am in desperate need of a bed/bEdroom makeover.
Im just about to click Buy(!) on the bedding bundle at citizenry but im wondering….do you plan to use the linen bedding THROUGH the colder months – and just add more layers?
